Demonstrate That Gases Spread Past Times Diffusion To Areas Of Lower Concentration

Principle.
Demonstrate that gases spread past times diffusion to areas of lower concentration Demonstrate that gases spread past times diffusion to areas of lower concentration

The spontaneous intermixing of molecules of unlike gases, due to collision, at a given temperature and pressure is called gaseous diffusion. When unlike gases are mixed together, they wishing to convey the same pressure everywhere. Thus, their molecules deed from expanse of higher concentration to an expanse of lower concentration until their pressure level becomes the same everywhere.

Chemical Required.

Conc. HCl solution, Conc. NH3, Solution.

Apparatus.

Glass tube, band stand, clamp, clamp holder, cotton wool balls, forceps, dropper, prophylactic stoppers, security goggles.

Chemical Equation.

Procedure.

  1. Take 100 cm. H5N1 long drinking glass underground opened at both ends.
  2. Plug a cotton wool piece, soaked inwards NH, solution at 1 destination together with a cotton wool place, soaked inwards HCl solution at other ends.
  3. The vapors of both these gases escape into the drinking glass underground simultaneously.
  4. The vapors of both NH3, & HCl are invisible. But when they encounter amongst each other. They arrive at white fumes of NH4Cl.
  5. The NH3, gas diffuses from cotton wool plug (Higher concentration) into the underground (lower concentration). Similarly. HCl gas likewise diffuses from cotton wool plug (Higher concentration) into the underground (lower concentration).

Result.

This experiment demonstrates that gases spread past times diffusion to areas of lower concentration.
